Hagerty UK’s Festival of the Unexceptional... a truly unpretentious, no-nonsense event championing community, all whilst celebrating wonderfully ordinary motors.
Invited by Hagerty UK, one of the Charity’s principal sponsors, the event laid on an automotive feast, set within the grounds of the stunning Lincolnshire-situated Grimsthorpe Castle. The Concours de L’Ordinaire showcased the beauty of the mundane with the Ford Cortina count exceeding fingers on hands, and eye-catching rows of both modern and new classics, proudly displayed for admiring visitors.
The Hagerty Drivers Club members’ area was a buzzing hotspot centred in the heart of the showground. The main stage, located near the entrance and the concession stands, provided the perfect viewing point to watch a near-constant stream of cars roll in. It was incredible to see such a community come together to enjoy motors that aren’t usually celebrated. Everything was equal, everything had its own personality – no egos, just engines.
Thanks to our relationship with Hagerty, we were given the opportunity to have a conversation on stage with the warmly welcoming Charlotte Vowden - a journalist and broadcaster well-known to all present. Our discussion focused on the purpose, reasoning and passion behind StarterMotor. Surrounded by an audience who shared that same spark, there was an underlying understanding of the importance of preserving the wonderful cars on show and ensuring the next generation fill key jobs within the industry. It was an honour to partake in the days festivities - making new connections in an environment fuelled by motoring ambition, passion and an overall shared sense of belonging.
