Velor interiors, hot hatches, shell suits and the Ghostbusters on standby, just in case any unwanted visitors make an appearance – welcome to Hagerty UK’s RADwood.
Celebrating all things 80’s and 90’s at Bicester Motion was the perfect way to spend the Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend. Although many of our Ambassadors were born in the late 90s and early 2000's, they were just as excited to celebrate this golden age and enjoyed being transported back in time to such an exciting era.
Ralli22 put on an epic spectacle for visitors to enjoy… Audi Quattros in abundance and Triumph TR7s specked out to the max, all whizzing round the Bicester Motion track showcasing what these magnificent motors are capable of. The Echto-1 rolled into RADwood to keep guests safe, with Sarah Chapman fuelling ears with legendary hits from the decades coming from her DJ booth.
The paddock area was filled with the 65 entries into the ‘Show ‘n’ Shine’ competition. Rocked up, ready for meticulous judging led by none other than Charlotte Vowden, owners awaited the anticipated results with the likes of a Lotus Espirit, Honda City Turbo and MG Maestro Turbo taking home awards. The friendly competition made for an exciting afternoon which added to the day’s festivities. It truly was an event to remember.
For us, it was a great opportunity to chat and network with visitors, whilst supporting Hagerty – one the Charity’s principal supporters. With our eye catching 1994 SEAT Ibiza on our stand, it sparked those important conversations, and the nostalgia that comes along with the car was the perfect catch - “I had one of those!” - an all too familiar phrase heard throughout the day.
We also had a 1994 Skoda Favorit on display, a car belonging to an Ambassador and is routinely used to compete in rallies with the practically perfect imperfections showcasing the years of competition.
Hasta la vista, baby… ⚡
